Protective structures on self-propelled mobile mechanical plant
Self-propelled mobile mechanical plant includes excavators, loaders, and heavy rollers. These can be hazardous to use for operators, and appropriate protective structures need to be in place to prevent injury.
Operators of self-propelled mobile mechanical plant machinery are at risk of injury from roll-over and from heavy objects falling on or intruding into the cab they are seated in.
We have produced guidance with the NZ Contractors’ Federation on best practice measures for operator protective structures.
Approved code of practice for operator protective structures on self-propelled mobile mechanical plant
This approved code of practice describes good practice for operator protective structures, operator training, loading for transportation, and seat belts.
